Hidden Strength is a short film created in collaboration with the Architectural Association (AA), London, that aims to highlight the vital role of indigenous women of Lake Atitlán as the driving force behind economic growth in a predominantly patriarcal society. Through carefully composed scenes of women weaving, cooking, making tortillas, praying, and carrying firewood, the film captures de essence of their daily contributions.
The rhythmic sound of weaving a huipil (Guatemalan typical attire) serves as the film's auditory backdrop, symbolizing the intricate fabric of their lives and labor, emphasizing the repetitive yet essential nature of their work.
The film culminates in personal testimonies that allow the women to voice their aspirations and dreams, reclaiming their place in the story of societal advancement.
